The Canadian Judicial Council was created by Parliament in 1971 Its statutory mandate is set out in subsection 60(1) of the "Judges Act" which establishes that the objects of the Council are to "promote efficiency and uniformity, and to improve the quality of judicial service in superior courts and in the Tax Court of Canada. The Canadian Inventory of Restorative Justice Programs and Services, maintained by Correctional Service Canada, is intended to help victims, offenders and the general public locate programs that teach, advocate, promote, conduct research, provide services or develop/produce resources and provide training related to Restorative Justice (RJ). The inventory is organized by geographic scope and includes a variety of regional programs plus listings for Academic Courses and Programs.
