L'ACDE est une clinique juridique spécialisée au sein du réseau ontarien de cliniques. L'ACDE s'efforce de protéger la santé humaine et l'environnement en cherchant à obtenir justice pour les personnes touchées par la pollution et en s'efforçant de modifier les politiques afin de prévenir ces problèmes en premier lieu. En tant que clinique d'aide juridique, leur principale priorité est de représenter les personnes et les collectivités à faible revenu et de prendre la parole au nom de ceux qui ont moins d'influence et qui ont moins leur mot à dire dans les décisions.
L'ACLC se bat pour les libertés civiles, les droits de la personne et les libertés démocratiques de tous les Canadiens. Fondé en 1964, c'est un organisme indépendant, national et non gouvernemental qui travaille dans les tribunaux, devant les comités législatifs, dans les salles de classe et dans la rue, pour protéger les droits et libertés chers aux Canadiens et inscrits dans notre Constitution.
